Plain-English guide
How long does it take to build an app?
Short answer: most of the apps we build take between 4 and 10 weeks. A launch-ready foundation takes 2 to 4 weeks, a first version (an MVP) 4 to 6 weeks, a fuller growth app 6 to 10 weeks, and a large platform app 10 to 14 weeks. Allow a little extra at the end for Apple and Google to review the app before it goes live.
| Type of app | Timeline | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Launch-ready foundation | 2 to 4 weeks | £4,500 to £7,000 |
| Starter app (MVP) | 4 to 6 weeks | £8,000 to £15,000 |
| Growth app | 6 to 10 weeks | £16,000 to £30,000 |
| Platform app | 10 to 14 weeks | £32,000 and up |
These are the timelines we quote most often. You get a timeline with your fixed quote, and the cost guide explains the prices.
Where the weeks go
Building an app isn’t one long stretch of coding. It runs in stages, and you see the work at each one.
- Agreeing what to build. This comes first, before the clock starts. On a free call you tell us the idea, and if we’re a good fit we send a roadmap: what to build first, how long it takes, and a fixed price.
- Design. We work out the screens and how someone moves through them.
- Build. The designs become a working app. You get versions you can tap through as we go, not a folder of files at the end.
- Testing and fixes. We test it, and you try it too. What comes up gets fixed before launch.
- Store review and launch. Apple and Google each review an app before it goes live. That usually takes a few days, but it can take longer, particularly for a first release.
What makes an app take longer
- More features on day one. Every screen and feature is design plus build plus testing. How much the app does at launch is the biggest lever on both time and cost.
- Two platforms at once. iPhone and Android together take longer than one. Many apps launch on one first and add the second once people are using it.
- Accounts, payments and other tools. Logins, subscriptions and connections to things like maps, messaging or a booking system all add work.
- Slow decisions. When feedback on a working version takes a week, the build waits a week. The same goes for logos, wording and photos that only you can supply.
- Changing the plan mid-build. New ideas are welcome, but each one adds time. We price any addition up front as a change request, so you can decide whether it’s worth the delay.
How to launch sooner
- Start with the smallest useful version. Pick the one thing the app must do well, and launch that. You can always add more once people are using it.
- Start from a foundation. If your idea fits one of our launch-ready foundations, the slow, common parts are already built and tested. That’s how an app can launch in 2 to 4 weeks.
- Launch on one platform first. Choose the one most of your customers use, and add the other later.
- Have your side ready. One person who can make decisions, plus your logo, wording and images, keeps the build moving.
Our promise on dates
You get a launch date with your quote. If we miss it because of us, you get 5% off. Delays on your side don’t count, which is one more reason to have your decisions and content ready.

How long does it take to build an app?
Most of the apps we build take between 4 and 10 weeks. A launch-ready foundation takes 2 to 4 weeks, a starter app 4 to 6 weeks, a growth app 6 to 10 weeks, and a large platform app 10 to 14 weeks.
What is the fastest way to launch an app?
Starting from a launch-ready foundation: an app base that’s already built and tested, customised for you. That takes 2 to 4 weeks, because the slow, common parts are already done.
How long do Apple and Google take to approve an app?
Both review an app before it goes live. It usually takes a few days, but it can take longer, particularly for a first release, so it’s worth allowing for it in your launch date.
Can I add features after the app has launched?
Yes, and it’s usually the better order. Launch the smallest useful version first, then add more once people are using it and you can see what they want.
Our promises
Saying yes should feel safe.
01
You own 100% of your code
The code and designs are yours once the final payment is made, and wherever possible your app is published under your own Apple and Google accounts. No lock-in, ever.
02
Free bug fixes for 30 days
Anything that breaks in the first month after launch, we fix at no charge. We’ll always tell you what counts as a bug and what counts as a new feature.
03
On time, or 5% off
If we miss the launch date we agreed because of us, you get 5% off. Delays on your side don’t count.
